Sporting Dinner March 13th
Thursday, 04 February 2010 09:34
Jeff Winter, the renowned after-dinner speaker, will be appearing at Bideford AFC on Saturday 13th March 2010. Chairman Roy Portch confirmed that the celebrity ex FA League Match Referee to appear at the Robins Nest for a Club/Fund-raising Dinner. The Robins Nest Function Room can accommodate around 120/130 guests and it is expected that this event will be a complete sell-out given the huge popularity and following of this refereeing legend, whose career spanned 25 years and culminated in his farewell Cup Final appearance in season 2003/2004.
Voted MBN Speaker of the Year, this foot-balling personality is free to speak openly of his true life experiences of dealing with controversial and volatile Players and Managers. Now a prolific writer and broadcaster, he is ranked amongst the very best and most widely respected of after-dinner speakers, for his current views and opinions.
Preliminary details of the Dinner are that Tickets are priced at £25 PER PERSON, to include Dinner and 1ST DRINK FREE. Doors open 7pm for Dinner at 7.30pm. A full pay bar will operate throughout the event. The Bideford AFC 1ST Team have been invited to attend and details will shortly be circulated to all Local Referee Associations.
A bumper PRIZE DRAW will be held and Jeff Winter has arranged to bring some remarkable and valued Sporting Memorabilia for sale/auction.
Admission will be by ADVANCE TICKET PURCHASE ONLY. Details on ticket purchase will be posted here on the website within the next couple of weeks.
ROY PORTCH commented:
We are honoured to welcome such a distinguished Guest to the Sports Ground; what makes this such a special event is that it gets us away from the well-beaten path of yet another ex-Football Player. For the first time I can remember, it will be the view of the guy in the middle whose views, opinions and decisions affect every single minute of the beautiful game, at every level of the game. We are all in for a very different after-dinner speaker and his appeal to all our local refereeing match officials and players, might just see us having to squeeze everyone in real tight. We scheduled this so as to ensure it followed a home game and gave everyone the chance to hear and see a real personality who I am looking forward to shaking hands with on the night.| < Prev | Next > |
